Hurricane Irene has been in the news a lot lately as it made its way across the country causing devastation and destruction. We have already given you applications that can help you track hurricanes for iOS devices, but today we have some of the best Hurricane tracker apps for Android devices.

First up is the free FEMA application which covers all types of natural disasters including hurricanes and earthquakes. There is an interactive checklist for emergency kits and a planner for emergency meeting locations. There is information and tips for users to stay safe after a disaster has hit, and to find out more and to download head over to the Android Market.

Android users can also get a version of The Weather Channel application free of charge, and has fully customizable weather maps. There are also detailed weather conditions and forecasts with severe weather alerts. A notification bar provides current information for temperature, and a severe weather alert indicator.
